Applications of Machine Learning from Day-to-Day life.
Artificial Intelligence is everywhere, and I know that you are using it in one way or the other and you don’t even know about it. One of the major applications of artificial intelligence is machine learning, in which computers and devices perform very similar to the human brain. We will see some examples of machine learning that we use every day and have no idea that they are driven by machine learning.
1. Search Engine Results
Google And other search engines use machine learning to improve their search results for you. Every time when we search, the machine learning algorithm at the backend keeps a watch and finds a way to respond to your results. What happens is if you open the top results and stay on the web page for a long time, the search engine assumes that the results it displayed were according to the query you entered. Similarly, if you open the second or third web search results and then the engine estimates that the result was not up to the mark. This is the way the algorithms work at the backend improving the search results.
2. Product Recommendations System
You shopped for a product online on any E-commerce platform a few days back and you keep receiving emails for related shopping suggestions. If not this, then you have noticed that the shopping website or app recommends you some items that somehow match with your taste.
It’s a great idea for giving suggestions on shopping but it’s machine learning doing the magic for you. All your behavior with the shopping web or app and past purchase, items added to carts, your favorite brands, etc, the product recommendations are made.
3. Predictions made while traveling
- Online Transportation Networks: We all book a cab while traveling, what happens is the app estimates the price for the ride. How the app estimates the price, Uber and Ola are the most used platforms for booking the cabs, the Engineerings at Uber and Ola says that machine learning is used to define price surge per hour by predicting the rider demand. In the whole cycle of services, mL plays a major role.
- Traffic Predictions Using Google Maps: We all are using the GPS navigation services, While doing that our current locations and the velocity are being saved at the central server for the traffic management. The cars and bikes which are traveling on the roads are having their own Location, and when we want to travel from location A to location B the machine learning helps us to find out the shortest and less traffic road to travel, it all uses ML.
4. Email Spam and Malware Detection
There are a number of ways the spam filtering approaches are used by email clients. To cope up with these spam emails the spam filters are continuously updated, they use machine learning algorithms. There are various tricks adopted by the spammer to send the mail, but Multi-layer perceptron, Decision tree Induction is the spam filtering techniques used to detect the spam emails, which are powered by ML.
5. Online Credit Card Fraud Detection
Various companies are using Machine learning for protections against money laundering and online fraud. The company uses a set of tools and techniques that helps them to compare millions of transitions taking place and distinguish between them which is real and which are fraud transactions. Machine Learning is providing its potential to make cyberspace a secure place and tracking online frauds.
6.Social Media Platforms
From Personalizing your news feed to making better ads, Social media platforms are using machine learning for their own and user benefits. Here are some of the examples that you must be using and loving in your social media accounts, without knowing that these features are nothing but the applications of machine learning.
- Face Recognition: When you upload a picture of you with a friend and Facebook instantly recognizes that friend in your picture. Facebook in the backend checks projections, poses in the picture, notices the unique features, and matches them with the people in your friend list. At the backend, the entire process is complicated and taken care of by the precision factor but seems to be a simple application of machine learning.
- People you may know section: Machine learning uses a simple concept of understanding with experience. Facebook continuously notices your behavior with friends that you connect, the profiles that you visit, and the people you chat with, the group with you and shares your thoughts, etc. On the basis of continuous learning, a list of Facebook users are suggested to you that you can become friends with.
7. Medical Diagnosis
One application of machine learning is a digital diagnosis. ML can detect patterns of certain diseases within patient electronic healthcare records and inform doctors of any anomalies. Various datasets are prepared for various diseases, the datasets are studied, and using machine learning algorithms the patients who are serious and which are free from disease can be informed.
I have shared with you the number of ways machine learning plays an important role in our lives, and they are going to be increasing day by day.
Artificial Intelligence and machine learning may sound very complex for the people with zero technology knowledge. However, they unknowingly use technologies in their day-to-day life, as we saw in the above examples.This usage is going to increase with more innovations and advancements in the future.
